► Policies
What is policy?
Put simply, policy is our collective view on a particular issue. It is what we, as students, standing together, believe in. Policies are also rules that Executive Officers have to follow. Union policy cannot contravene the Constitution or any legislation.
How is policy set?
Union policy is set by a referendum (of all students), General Meetings of the Union (e.g the AGM or UGMs) or by Senate. Each policy is proposed as a motion. A vote is then taken to pass it or not. All policy expires three years after the date is was passed, unless it is renewed at a General Meeting.
